Preferably before joining the big wide world of independence, I'd like to cross off some countries from my wishlist and see a bit more of the world. There is a VERY lot of things I have yet to see.
In particular, I want to give something back to the world. My mother mentioned that I should do something volunteering-y before getting a proper job, probably spurred on by the fact that my brother is currently safari-ing and building schools etc in Tanzania for a month.
I've had this specific website saved in my 'favourites' (in the good old days of Internet Explorer) for about two years and rediscovered it last night following this chat with my mama: http://www.gvi.co.uk/internships/Africa/South%20Africa/community-internship-south-africa/home
Compared to my brother's 5 grand for one month, this is a snip at 4 grand for 6 months! And includes formal qualifications that I work towards, as well as getting teaching experience. This is always good to have, especially since I'll eventually be gaining one of those degrees that doesn't have a set vocation... sending many graduates down the road of a PGCE or something else in lieu of getting a real job.
So this has become something to think about.
